Professor Richard L. Rogers, Associate Professor of Accounting in the Kelley School of Business the past thirty years, died peacefully in his home August 2, 2011, at the age of sixty-one. He earned his B.S. from Rider University (1974), M.B.A. from Lehigh University (1977), and his Ph.D. from Penn State University (1981). Rich loved and excelled in both in-class teaching and online teaching, and he was one of the founding faculty of the Kelley Direct web-based MBA program. He received many Graduate and Undergraduate Teaching Awards. Rich served in a variety of school and campus committees, and his guidance and counsel were sought by other faculty. Rich is survived by his mother (Mary), wife (Teggie), sister (Nancy), son (David and his wife, McKenze) and daughter (Becky). Friends describe Rich as the kind, gentle, and warm. The Kelley School faculty and staff mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
THUS, BE IT RESOLVED: That this memorial resolution be adopted by the Faculty Council of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis and placed in the minutes and its permanent archives; that a moment of silence be observed in his honor; and that a copy of this memorial resolution be delivered to his wife.
